The Walking Dead is Telltale Games' five-part adventure series, set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman's Eisner Award-winning comic book series. You play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal handed an unlikely second chance when the dead begin to rise. Then he finds Clementine, a young girl hiding alone in her family's backyard treehouse, and she becomes his reason to keep going. It is a story about survival, but above all it is about the kind of person you choose to be when every option costs something.

A Story Shaped by Your Choices

Every episode puts you in conversations and crises with no clean answer. Who you side with in an argument, who you save when two people are in danger, what you tell Clementine and what you keep from her: the game remembers all of it. Those decisions carry forward across the whole season, changing how the other survivors treat you and how Lee's story plays out from the first episode to the last.

Many choices come with a timer. When the undead are pounding at the door, there is no time to weigh the options, and the game asks you to commit on instinct. That pressure is what makes the big moments land. You live with what you decided in the heat of the moment, not what you might have chosen with time to think.

Lee and Clementine

Lee is a man with a past he would rather not talk about. Clementine is a child who needs someone she can trust. The relationship that grows between them is the emotional center of the series. You decide what kind of guardian Lee becomes: how honest he is with her, what he teaches her about surviving, and what example he sets when the group around them starts to crack. Few characters in games have earned the kind of loyalty players still feel for Clementine, and that loyalty is built one choice at a time.

Five Episodes, One Complete Season

Episode 1: A New Day The police cruiser taking Lee to prison crashes on the outskirts of Atlanta just as the outbreak takes hold. He finds Clementine, and the two take shelter with a group of survivors in a Macon drugstore, where Lee's own history sits closer than he would like. Episode 2: Starved for Help Months later, the group has fortified a roadside motor inn, but food is running out and tempers are fraying. An offer of help from a family running a nearby dairy farm seems too good to pass up, and the episode tests how far trust can stretch when everyone is hungry. Episode 3: Long Road Ahead With the motor inn no longer safe, the survivors take to the road and find a way forward on the rails. Tensions that have been building inside the group finally come to a head, and the choices Lee has made so far start to decide who still stands beside him. Episode 4: Around Every Corner The group reaches Savannah in search of a boat and a way off the coast. The city is crawling with walkers and hiding secrets, and what the survivors uncover about the people who tried to hold it together shows how dark this world can become. Episode 5: No Time Left The season builds to its conclusion as Lee pushes through Savannah with everything on the line. Every relationship you built and every promise you made comes due in a finale that has stayed with players for more than a decade.

How It Plays

Between the big decisions, you explore each scene, talk with the people around you, search for supplies and work through practical problems the group cannot solve on its own. When things go wrong, the pace shifts to fast, reactive action where hesitation can be fatal and a firearm is sometimes the only answer. The interface stays out of the way, and full controller support makes it just as comfortable to play from the couch as at a desk, which suits a story you will want to sink into for hours at a time.

Why It Still Matters

When the first episode arrived in April 2012, episodic adventure games were a niche. By the time the fifth landed that November, The Walking Dead had become one of the most talked-about games of the year and collected a long list of Game of the Year honors. It proved a game could be built around conversation, consequence and grief, and it set the template for the narrative games that followed. If you have ever wondered what you would do when the world ends, Lee's road starts here. Take Clementine's hand, keep her close, and find out what kind of protector you turn out to be.
