NBA 2K16 is the 2015 entry in Visual Concepts' flagship basketball series, and the year 2K handed MyCAREER to acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee. His story sits alongside a new motion engine, a re-imagined MyGM, a MyLEAGUE built to your exact specifications and 12 new classic teams, making this one of the deepest single-player basketball sims of its generation. It shipped more than four million copies in its first week, the fastest launch the series had seen at the time.

Livin' Da Dream: MyCAREER as a Spike Lee Joint

Written, directed and produced by Spike Lee, Livin' Da Dream is the most intense first-person narrative the series had attempted. You play as Frequency Vibrations, known to everyone as Freq, a Harlem high school standout with the NBA firmly in his sights. The story carries him from the high school gym through college and onto the NBA draft stage, and you play the games that define each chapter along the way.

It plays like a sports film you happen to be starring in, with cinematic cutscenes, a sharp script and a coming-of-age story about what the league asks of a young player as well as what it gives back. Few sports games have told a story with this much personality.

A New Motion Engine on the Court

Visual Concepts rebuilt player movement for NBA 2K16. The new motion engine delivers smarter, more realistic movement and articulation, while new ball and rim physics and reworked player collisions make every drive, box-out and contested jumper feel physical. The result is basketball that rewards reading the floor and using spacing the way real NBA teams do, rather than relying on canned animations to bail you out.

Play Now, Classic Teams and Local Games

2K has shut down the NBA 2K16 online servers, so online play, MyTEAM, MyPARK, 2K Pro-Am, MyLEAGUE Online, Virtual Currency and the in-game store are no longer available. Play Now remains the quickest way onto the floor, putting a current roster, a classic squad or a EuroLeague club up against the CPU, or against a friend sharing the same screen with full controller support.
